I can’t stop thinking about how AI will redefine the world as we know it. Education, medicine or even transportation: all sectors will be impacted.
One key question is what happens to us as humans.
Are we staying relevant in this new world?
It seems just a matter of years before we clone ourselves1. Our style, our thought process, or even our voice. All of what makes us “unique” (or what we thought so) will be replicated in a few GB or TB of data. A multi-modal model will be able to mimic your personality and let us live in the cyberspace. Your clone will interact with others through audio, video, or text. Similar to the episode Be Right Back of Black Mirror, virtually talking to loved ones who die will be possible. As technology progresses, the difference between reality and virtual will keep decreasing to a point where you cannot distinguish what is real from what is generated from models.
Imagine a world where you could stay forever with the person you love? Or speaking to your parents, even after they pass away? Sure, many people will want this and our society is so lonely that the vast majority would love to have more company, real or fake virtual. There are already a few startups who are making $100k+ ARR with AI girlfriends, and it’s just a matter of time before it gets to the millions.
Some people are already working on it
